 The Chronic Disease Self-Management Program is a workshop developed by the Division of Family and Community Medicine at Stanford University to help inform those with chronic illness or a loved one with a chronic illness about becoming an effective health advocate for oneself and improving quality of life.
Topics covered in the workshop include:
*Techniques to deal with problems such as frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation.
*Exercises for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility, and endurance.
*Appropriate use of medications.
*Communication effectively with family, friends, and health professionals.
*Decision making.
*Evaluation new treatments.

Each participant in the workshop receives a copy of the companion book, "Living a Healthy Life with Chronis Conditions", and an audio relaxation CD.
